How long does a MOHRE complaint take to resolve?

MOHRE attempts to resolve labour complaints within 14 working days through mediation. If the case is referred to labour court, it can take 2-6 months depending on complexity. Claims under AED 50,000 are resolved faster as MOHRE can issue a binding decision without court involvement.

Can I file a MOHRE complaint if I've already left the UAE?

You can file a complaint within 1 year of the violation. If you've left the UAE, you may file online via the MOHRE website or app, or authorise a representative in the UAE to file on your behalf with a notarised power of attorney.

What happens if my employer doesn't attend MOHRE mediation?

If your employer fails to attend the MOHRE mediation session, the case is automatically referred to the labour court. The employer's absence may be viewed unfavourably by the court and can strengthen your position in the dispute.
