Gather Your Documents
Before filing, make sure you have the following documents ready:
- Copy of your tenancy contract (Ejari registered)
- Copy of your Emirates ID or passport
- Ejari certificate
- Evidence of the dispute (emails, WhatsApp messages, photos, payment receipts)
- Any notices sent to/from the landlord
- RERA rent calculator printout (use our free tool)
Calculate the Filing Fee
The RDC filing fee is 3.5% of your annual rent, with a minimum of AED 500 and a maximum of AED 20,000. If you win your case, the losing party may be ordered to reimburse the filing fee.
Example: Annual rent of AED 80,000 = filing fee of AED 2,800

You can file through the Dubai REST app or visit the RDC in person. Online filing is faster and available 24/7.
Online: Dubai REST App
Available on iOS and Android. Navigate to Rental Disputes > File New Case.
In Person: RDC Office
Dubai Land Department Building, Baniyas Road, Deira. Working hours: Sun-Thu, 7:30 AM - 2:30 PM.
Attend the Hearing
Once your case is registered, both parties will be notified of the hearing date. You can represent yourself — a lawyer is not required but can be helpful for complex cases.
Bring all original documents and any additional evidence. The hearing is typically conducted in Arabic with translation available.
Receive the Judgement
The RDC will issue a judgement. For disputes under AED 100,000, the decision at the first instance is final. For disputes over AED 100,000, either party can appeal within 15 days.
RDC judgements are enforceable like court orders. If the other party doesn't comply, you can file for enforcement through the execution court.
Tips for a Stronger Case
- Send a formal notice first. The RDC prefers that parties attempt to resolve disputes before filing. Generate one here.
- Document everything. Screenshots of WhatsApp conversations and emails are accepted as evidence.
- Include your RERA calculator result. For rent disputes, this shows the objective market comparison.
- Be on time. If you miss your hearing without valid reason, the case may be decided in your absence.
